The Healing Journey, bit by bit.

Real Healing

My Writing

I used to love writing. I say used to because it's all but dried up currently. I believe this is related to my healing path. As you may observe, a lot of my writing was born of pain, loneliness and misery. These days I have learnt to embrace these emotions, release them promptly and return to balance.

Back then, a cafe table with my books, note pads and a cold beer was my idea of heaven!

I am hoping that my creative writing will resume from a new angle some day, but for now I feel that at least some of it is worth sharing.

The poems came mainly from my time at sea. I would sit on the foredeck of the boat, with a few cold beers obviously, and wallow in whatever emotions I was lost in at the time. The poems just seem to flow out of me with minimal effort. I miss that, I miss the satisfaction of finishing one, re-reading it and being pleased with the outcome.

The childrens story "The Princess and the Pirate" was written in India, under similar circumstances as my poetry. It wasn't until much later I realised that there were already a few publications with the same title. I have actually been looking for an illustrator to do a few nice drawings for the work, so if anyone's interested?

I wrote for the enjoyment and the catharsis it offered. I once read from another blogger his advice of just doing what you do for the sake of enjoyment. Being lost in something you love, in creating something. There's something special in that.

I hope that working towards being in a more constantly flowing state will help new creativity come. Not that that is the aim, the aim is to experience life as it is, with all it's challenges and being able to deal with that in its raw form, and come back into a state of balance and flow. That I believe is where the magic happens.

I hope you enjoy my writing!
